Irish Pool – ‘EVENT 1′ —– Tyrone 8-Ball Ranking Tournament

Irish Pool – Tyrone Pool Association will be holding their first Tyrone 8-Ball Ranking Tournament (event 1) this Saturday 24th September in 147 Club Omagh starting at 10am with last entries taken on Friday evening 23rd September.

These Tyrone Ranking Tournaments is only open to Tyrone eligible players (men, lady and juniors) who would like to represent Tyrones Mens Inter County Pool Teams (A & B).

Points will be awarded at each Tyrone Ranking Tournament from -finals onwards which goes towards all players qualifying for both Mens Inter County A & B Teams.

Its in each players own interest if they want to represent their County at the 2012 All Ireland Inter County 8-Ball Team Championships with no WILD CARDS given out this year with all team members selected on merit.(full details are on Tyrone Pool Association page on facebook).

NOTE:
This year Tyrone Pool Association has set-up a fundraising committee of Damian Corrigan, Daryl Beattie, Ronnie Boyle and Chris Beattie with the named committee making sure that enough money will be raised to help pay all players costs when representing Tyrone Pool Association at the 2012 All Ireland Inter County 8-Ball Team Championships which can be a very costly weekend.

DRESS-CODE:
All players are reminded to make sure to have the tournament DRESS-CODE in place because no player will receive any ranking points or prize-money.

Irish Pool – Entries are being taken for a new “IRELAND’S SENIORS 8-BALL CHALLENGE TOUR” 2,800 SERIES which will be cueing off in January 2012.

This new proposed “IRELAND’S SENIORS 8-BALL CHALLENGE TOUR” is open to all players over the age of 40 but no PROFESSIONAL PLAYERS or top AMATEUR PLAYERS from any Country will be allowed to play with all ELIGABLE PLAYERS judged by the tour organisers.NOTE: TOP AMATEURS are players who have competed in professional organised tours over the past five years.

1 The tour will consist of five events —- (560 paid out for each event —- prize-money listed below).

2 Entries are limited to 16 players —– (all entries accepted on a first come, first served basis).

3 All tour events will be played at Q-Sports Academy Sports Club, Fintona, Co. Tyrone —— (played on four supreme pool tables with all players receiving a TIME-SLOT for each event).

4. All five tournaments will be played on a Sunday every two to three months with first four matches starting at 10am (8 players) and the second set of matches starting 11-30am (8 players) followed by the 1/4-finals, semi-finals and final.as stated above all played on four tables.

Irish Pool – ‘CATEGORY B SUMMER CUP’ ——- Ali Welsh Crowned Champion

Irish Pool – Last Friday night (3rd September) in the Q-Sports Academy Sports Club Fintona the Grand-Finals of the Q-Sports Academy CATEGORY B 8-Ball Summer Cup took place with this new and exciting event being a major success with the tournament paying out over 700 in prize-money.

The 2011 event was only limited to 16 players attracting players from throughout the different areas making it a tough and enjoyable event for all players which seen 280 paid out in the weekly tournaments with the top 8 players from the rankings returning for the Grand-Finals to compete for a further 440 prize-money with the winner receiving a cheque for 240.

Ali Welsh (Fintona) who captain the Tyrone Inter County 8-Ball Junior Pool Team when they won two back to back All Ireland Inter County Team Championship titles in 2002 and 2003 was crowned the 2011 Q-Sports Academy CATEGORY B 8-Ball Summer Cup champion defeating his fellow players on route to victory.

Ali started his winning campaign with a fabulous 7-5 victory over Peter Ward (Dromore) in the -finals and followed that up with another tremendous performance to overcome the challenge of the recent Fintona Open Town Cup Champion Lee Booth (Omagh) with a 7-4 win in the semi-finals.

In the final Ali kept his fantastic run of form going to claim the title with a superb 8-2 victory over Skill McMoran to be crowned champion collecting 240 for his efforts and the perpetual trophy and will be one of the favorites for remaining Category B tournaments taking place at the Q-Sports Academy sports Club.

Irish Pool – Irelands American 8 & 9 Ball Pool Tour are proud to announce the return of the ALL IRELAND AMERICAN OPEN 8-BALL POOL CHAMPIONSHIPS which was a very popular event with all tour players over the years before it drifted away.

Former World 9-Ball Pool Champion Daryl Peach (England) was the first winner of this prestigious event back in 2005 defeating Ronnie Boyle (Tyrone) in the final on an 8-5 score-line played at Downeys Pool Club Derry.

The next three years 2006, 2007 and 2008 the tournament was won by Irelands Top 9-Ball Pool Player Paddy McLoughlin (Down) who dominated the American Cue-Sport Game in Ireland for those number of years played under Irelands American 8 & 9 Ball Pool Tour.

2011 EVENT:
The 2011 All Ireland American Open 8-Ball Pool Championships which is the biggest and most prestigious AMERICAN 8-BALL TOURNAMENT in Ireland will be taking place on Saturday 19th November 2011 at the Northwest Snooker Club, Letterkenny, Co.Donegal open to all players throughout the 32 counties of Ireland as well as overseas with LIVE STREAMING throughout the day taking place. (LIMITED TO 32 ———- details listed below).

The organisers would like to see the return of old players who competed on Irelands American 8 & 9 Ball Pool Tour down through the years and of course all new players will be most welcome as well as our regular tour players.

BRIEF RULES:
1 The tournament is limited to 32 players ——– (first 28 on a first come, first served basis)

(a): the first 28 paid players will be accepted.

(b): their will be a play-off on the Friday night 18th November for 4 places if the entries go over 32.

2 The tournament will be played on four tables with one table being the TV TABLE for LIVE STREAMING.

3 The tournament will start at 10am on the button with TIME-SLOTS in place.

(a): four groups of 4 (groups 1 to 4) at 10am, 11am with each group winner playing at 12noon.

(b): four groups of 4 (groups 5 to 8) at 1-30pm 2-30pm with each group winner playing at 3-30pm.

4 The four -finals will start at 4-30pm followed by semi-finals 5-30pm with the final taking place at 6-30pm.

5: The 2011 All Ireland American Open 8-Ball Pool Championships will be played in a straight knockout with all matches being best of 13 (race to 7) to the final with the final being best of 15 (race to 8) ———– this format is allowing 1-hour per match.

(a): Any player who is not at the table when called will lose a rack every 5 minutes. NO EXCEPTIONS given to any player.

(b): Any player who turns up to play without the tournament DRESS-CODE being in place will lose three racks plus only receive half of any prize-money he or she wins with rest of the prize-money carried onto the next tournament NO EXCEPTIONS given to any player.

6 TOURNAMENT DRESS CODE: —— dress trousers, polo or dress shirt (shirt must have collar) and dress shoes ———— no trainers, no canvas / jean trousers, no round neck tee shirts.

7 All players will receive a PLAYING HANDI-CAP one point less from their original 9-ball playing handi-cap.

Irish Pool – ‘TYRONE POOL ASSOCIATION’ —— Select Inter County Pool Team

Irish Pool – On Sunday past (21st August) a Tyrone Inter County Select Pool Team played a challenge match at the Q-Sports Academy Sports Club in Fintona against N.Ireland Over 40s International Pool team.

The N. Ireland Over 40s Teams will be heading down to Carlow Rep Of Ireland in a few weeks time for the 2011 European Blackball Pool Championships and Tyrone Pool Association would like to wish all players good luck in there bit to be Crowned European Pool Champions in the Over 40’s Category.

Tyrone Pool Association won the match on a fantastic 22-11 score-line with all Tyrone players playing their part in the victory.

Irish Pool – ‘OVER 1,400 PRIZE-MONEY’ —– Mid-Week 8-Ball Tour & League

Irish Pool – Last Friday night (19th August) the GRAND-FINALS of the Q-Sports Academy MID-WEEK 8-Ball Tour & League took place when the -finals, semi-finals and final was played to a finish.

Chris Beattie (Aughnacloy) claimed the title playing superb pool throughout the evening claiming the 350 winners cheque with a last frame victory over top Lady International and Ireland’s 8-Ball Challenge Tour winner Collette Hendrikson (Fermanagh) in the final on a 8-7 score-line.

This new and exciting tournament was limited to 16 players with the tournament offering over 1.400 in prize-money which seen 100 paid out each week over a seven week period for the weekly individual tournament with the top 8 players on the weekly rankings qualifying and returning for GRAND-FINALS .

Chris Beattie was crowned 2011 champion defeating the following players on route to victory Emmet McGuire (Dregish, 1/4-finals, 7-6), Davy McGurn (Strabane, semi-finals, 7-5) before winning a last game decider against Collette Hendrikson (Fermanagh) in the final on a 8-7 score-line.

Irish Pool – Event 4 of Irelands 8-Ball Challenge Tour 2011

Irish Pool – On Sunday past (14th August) event 4 of Irelands 8-Ball Challenge Tour 4,000 Series took place with event 4 producing the fourth different winner in the 2011 series when Coalisland cueist Ronan Fay (Coalisland) claimed victory over Inter County team mate Ronnie Boyle (Fintona) in the final on a 8-6 score-line.

Ronan who comes from Coalisland just returned from the World Eighball Pool Championships in Blackpool with a World Championship Medal when he represented Irelands International 8-Ball Pool Team at these prestigious World Championships when Ireland was crowned World Team Champions with the Coalisland cueist playing a major part in this fabulous victory for the Irish Pool Association and Ronan himself.

Ronan was in fine form throughout the tournament putting in solid and superb performances defeating some very good players round by round to claim the 350 winners cheque and become the fourth different Challenge Tour winner in this 4,000 Series joining the other 2011 tournament winners Emmett McGuire (Tyrone, event 1 winner), Collett Hendrikson (Wales Lady International, event 2 winner) and Niall McMenamin (Fermanagh, event 3 winner).

Ronan started his tournament victory in the last-32 defeating Daryl Beattie (Tyrone) on a 7-2 score-line and followed that up with further victories over Benny Quinn (Moortown, 7-1), Gerald Elliman (Belfast, 7-3), Stephen Johnson (Lisburn, 7-5) before defeating Ronnie Boyle (Fintona) in the final 8-6 to be crowned Event 4 champion.

Ronnie Boyle reached the final with victories over Barry Keane (last-32, 7-1), Dwayne Timlin (last-16, 7-3), Seamus Doyle (1/4-finals, 7-4), Emmett McGuire (semi-finals, 7-4) before losing to the inform Ronan Fay in the final on a 8-6 score-line.
